Versa-Bar: Any Shape, Size and Grade you need
Published on November 19, 2024
AIA can fill your metal needs with nearly any size, shape and grade you want.
Our Versa-Bar line of products comes in 4 grades and we can provide any size from .75 inches in diameter up to 27 inches in diameter.
Versa-Bar Grades
Our Versa-Bar continuous cast iron comes in four grades. Here they are listed below:
The V-2 gray iron is a class 40 gray iron and is ideal for bearings, bushing and hydraulic components, mostly serving the hydraulics industry.
The V-3 ductile iron has a higher tensile strength than V-2 and is made of a more machinable material. It’s the easiest of the grades to machine, offers high spindle speeds, less tool wear and finishes better. It’s widely used for pistons in the hydraulics industry.
The V-4 ductile iron has a tensile strength of 80,000 psi and a yield strength of 55,000 psi. It is a more efficient and affordable alternative to steel. Common uses for V-4 are for valves, couplings, brake rotors/discs and bearings.
The V-5 (HT) has the highest tensile and yield strengths. It is ideal for pumps, compressors, automotive parts and other heavy industrial applications. The V-5 is not only metallurgically superior to steel, it is also more cost-effective.
What is Versa-Bar commonly used for?
Versa-Bar continuous cast iron is most commonly used in the fluid power, oil and gas, bearing, patterns and machine component manufacturing industries.
The line of metal products is incredibly durable and reduces production costs. This makes it a very popular choice for fabricating machine component parts.
Shapes that Versa-Bar comes in
AIA offers a wide variety of materials, finishes, grades, sizes and shapes to meet your exact specifications.
When it comes to shapes, we offer the Versa-Bar line of products in bars, rounds and rods, as well as tubing and plates.
Versa-Bar can also come in a rectangular or square bar, round bar, cut pieces or special shapes you may need.
Custom parts made from Versa-Bar
All grades of continuous cast iron Versa-Bar can be finished and machined into custom parts for you.
Those custom parts include cast iron bearings, bushings, pulleys, couplings, brake rotors/discs and molds.
You can also get custom cast iron piston rings, valves, pistons/glands, fluid power, gears, patters/molds, spindles and hydraulic manifolds.
